    Body Description: The Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO) is established under the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 (the Act) and is the independent health complaints management system and single point of entry for complaints relating to both registered and unregistered health practitioners, and also public, private and not-for-profit health service organisations. Under the Act, the OHO's main responsibilities include: - being the single point of entry for health service complaints - dealing with all serious matters about registered health practitioners, with the option to refer less serious matters to the National Boards and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) - dealing with complaints about health service organisations such as hospitals - examining systemic issues affecting health service complaints - monitoring performance of the National Boards and Ahpra in Queensland. The Health Ombudsman is appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister.
