The Council controls and governs the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR). QIMR was established under the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Act 1945 for the purpose of conducting research into any branch or branches of medical science.
The functions of the Council are to:
- control and manage the QIMR
- raise and accept monies for the purposes of the QIMR
- invest monies raised or accepted by the Council for the purpose of the QIMR
- invest monies derived from any property or other invested monies of the Council for the purpose of the QIMR.
The Council consists of at least seven, but not more than 11, members appointed by the Governor in Council. |
